Abstract

Globalization and technological breakthroughs are causing a fast change in every aspect of modern life. One of the most important 21st-century abilities, English language proficiency (ELP), is now recognised as being essential for both academic improvement and one's personal and professional growth. The National Education Policy (NEP) - 2020 also lays a major emphasis on enhancing learners' soft skills, and one of these is communication abilities. As a result, English language proficiency is one of the key prerequisites for pursuing higher education and working globally. Therefore, a research study has been undertaken by the researcher to explore various dimensions and the current status of ELP throughout the world. The outcomes of the study were used to make recommendations and scope for further research.
